Oriental Cockroach

Appearance

Oriental cockroaches are a larger species of the cockroach, growing as long as 18-29 mm. Female oriental cockroaches have a slightly different appearance than the males. Both dark brown or black in color, females have wider bodies than the male and males have long wings and a narrower body.

Habitat

Also known as the waterbug, the oriental cockroaches prefer dark and moist habitats including decaying organic matter, sewers, drains, damp basmements, and more. Considered a major pest, all the oriental cockroach needs to survive is warmth and high humidity. Oriental cockroaches are known to reside in your homes sewer pipes and may access your home through sink drains.
